The Born Learning Trail provides young children with an opportunity to get active, have fun and boost language and literacy skills. The "trail" features age-appropriate, simple-to-construct activities that can be set up outdoors or in. As a means to promote early learning opportunities, United Way Worldwide created the concept of a Born Learning Trail. The trail contain ten interactive signs for activities that adults can engage in with young children to turn an outdoor trip into a fun learning experience. This trail supports Darlington County First Steps' and United Way of Hartsville's early education strategies to ensure all children start school ready to succeed--meaning all children start kindergarten on track in the five key developmental areas of communication, cognition, physical development, social/emotional development, and self-help skills.
With help from Darlington County First Steps, Duke Energy and the City of Hartsville, the first Born Learning Trail was installed in Byerly Park!
